When Christ sent his disciples forth commanding them to make disciples of all nations (Mt 28:19), he was presenting all of us with the opportunity to live out our purpose as God intended. At St John Paul College, the very core of our being revolves around this mission Christ set for us all to take the Good News of God’s unconditional love for all through the resurrection and saving grace of Christ and to share it with all whom we encounter.
The Catholic mission of our school is the same as that given to the whole Church - to lead all those we meet into an opportunity to encounter the living Son of God that is Jesus. Our work is to educate everyone in how to recognise and respond to the example set to us by Christ in order that we might live the life God intended for us.
To that end, the role of Catechesis in St John Paul College works hand in hand with that of Evangelisation as we cannot give what we do not have. The catechetical program is an interactive process where the community is provided with the opportunity to hear the word of God, engage in worship, participate in service and contribute to the community. Through witness and worship Evangelisation takes as many forms as there are individuals.
We are guided in our thoughts, words and actions by Christ to put our individual gifts and talents to use in order to serve others.
Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) Our college motto is a clear message that a rich life on earth, and eternal life in heaven, is provided through a relationship with our creator. The Mission of St John Paul College is to bring staff, students and parents to an understanding of this truth so that they acknowledge Christ's unconditional love for them. Through a genuine relationship with the Holy Trinity, God evangelises others through staff, students and parents who witness to the faith.
