The High-Potential and Gifted Stage 4 & 5 Program at St John Paul College is offered to the students who achieve in the top 5% across a range of skills. The testing includes: critical thinking, general aptitude, reading, mathematics and science. Standaradised testing, such as NAPLAN is also taken into consideration.

The aim of the program is to stimulate each student's critical, creative and ethical thinking skills. This is done through cross-curricular content such as: logical, lateral and creative thinking; ethical and philosophical reasoning; problem solving and entrepreneurial innovation. All activities aim to build the reflective and metacognitive abilities of our HP&G students. The programs culminate in participation in activities and competitions including, but not limited to: da vinci Decatholon, Ethics Olympiad, $20 Boss, STEM MAD Competition.

In the same way that Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519) was the classic Italian Uomo Universale - whose gifts were manifest in the fileds of art, science, music, invention and writing - the program is built on the notion that our HP&G students should embrace all knowledge and develop their own capacities as fully as possible. This is accomplished through students seeking to develop skills in all areas of knowledge: STEM, social accomplishments and the humanities.

The High-Potential & Gifted Stage 3 Program at St John Paul College is offered to students from:

  • St Francis Xavier, Woolgoolga
  • St Augustine's, Coffs Harbour
